April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo final update

Camp NaNoWriMo has come to an end! The final week is often a chaotic rush to reach the word count goal and see your story through its final few chapters. Since I had hit the 50,000-word mark last week, anything I wrote in these final few days was a pure bonus. I honestly love when I can go past the goal and get extra words written. It means that the novel draft is that much closer to being done. This April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo final update goes over the last week of the month-long writing challenge and shows the end result of all that writing.

Curious about how the previous weeks have gone? Check out my week 1, week 2, week 3, and week 4 updates.

April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo final update

Day 25

This is it, the beginning of the final week of Camp NaNoWriMo. Oftentimes, stress comes in full force during this week. However, since I had already hit my word count goal, I went into it feeling quite relaxed. I could write as little or as much as I wanted. Of course, I did want to push myself to see how much more I could write. I had a lot of other things going on this day, but even so, I managed to quickly add 2091 words before moving on to other priorities.

Day 26

I didn’t feel like writing this day. There are always days when you’d rather do anything else. However, I opened my word doc and let it sit there for a while. I would work on something else and then look at what I had previously written. Eventually, I was able to get a couple of short writing sprints in which helped me to add 903 words.

Day 27

I forgot to update my word count on this day, so it shows up for tomorrow. This was a decently busy day, with plenty of blog work and chores getting done. Ended the day having written 1006 words.

Day 28

This was a blog heavy day. I worked on six different post drafts and managed to finish four of them. I wasn’t expecting to do any novel writing beyond that, especially since this was also one of my World of Warcraft raid nights. But, we finished our raid 30 minutes early and that allowed me to squeeze in 1446 words for this project.

Day 29

Despite being slow close to the end of Camp NaNoWriMo, I felt a bit lost on this day when it came to writing. I wasn’t sure what to write next, even though I had a few ideas of what the next chapter would entail. After thinking about it for quite some time, I realized I didn’t like any of those ideas. So, I got to brainstorming and jotting down new ideas for where to take the story from here. This led to writing 1108 words.

Day 30

The final day! This is always an exciting day because you know you have made it to the end, even if you don’t hit your word count goal. This day can either be relaxed or complete chaos. Since I had already hit my word count goal for the month, I was free to write as little or as much as I wanted to. For me, the day was chaos. However, it wasn’t writing chaos. It was get stuff done around the house chaos. I was busy cleaning, reorganizing, and building a bookshelf kind of day. Despite all that, I still managed to find time to sit down and write 1776 words.

This brings my total word count to 62457. I am pretty darn happy with that. There is still a lot of work to be done for this particular story and I do look forward to writing it one day. However, for the time being, I am going to set this project aside and focus on my main project for the next couple of months.

I hope you have enjoyed this April 2021 Camp NaNoWriMo final update. Did you get any writing done this month?
