My Review:
Unlike the previous two volumes, this one spends much of its time showing Urara and Ichnoi living their lives with minimal interactions with each other. It made things feel off because these two are good friends, and there has been regular time spent today.
However, this time apart helps to show how much Urara has grown since meeting Ichinoi. Even Urara’s mother, who up until now has played a small role in the story, takes note of her changes.
Speaking of her mom, we get to see more of her and their unusual relationship. Her mother certainly has some interesting quirks, and I can see how those affect Urara.
As if dealing with her mother isn’t enough, Urara also has a strained relationship with her father. There had been hints of this previously, but this volume showed this quite strongly. Seeing this makes you appreciate her friendship with Ichinoi even more.
There is a sort of irony that both Urara and Ichinoi seem to exude an aura of loneliness throughout this volume, despite spending most of their time with other people, be it friends or family. It’s obvious that what they need more than anything else is to be with each other, enjoying BL manga, and supporting each other.
While these two spent quite a bit of time apart, this brings them together in a fantastic way at the end. It is wonderful to see these two supporting each other without hesitation. These two have come a long way, and it’s great to continue to see them grow.
The ending opens up a lot for these two to come, yet shows a great understanding between them, especially with Urara considering whether Ichinoi will be able to keep up with her idea.
Overall, this was a good volume. It did stand out from the others in ways, and while initially I wasn’t sure the story would work out but in the end it did. This series has quickly become a favorite, and I have already added the next volume to my TBR. I look forward to seeing what comes next for these two and their incredible friendship.
I hope you enjoyed my review of BL Metamorphosis Vol 3. Have you read this book?
