My Review:

Riko, Soboro, and Musubi are back for another round of leveling up.

After these three have been together for many months, it’s clear Riko’s gamer ways have rubbed off on the cats, which is quite amusing. I guess it’s true that pets often act like their owner in many ways.

Watching Riko apply her technique for approaching luck spins in her game to feeding the cats is certainly unique, but it certainly reflects her gamification of life. The cats didn’t seem to mind this change.

Getting the little snippet of what has happened again from the cats’ perspectives is always a nice bonus, because it shows that what we/Riko see and experience doesn’t always line up with what Soboro and Musubi think is happening.

One thing I was glad to see return in this volume was Riko in her office setting. I understand that the fun of this series is seeing her at home, in her element, playing game after game, and being a new cat mom. However, in the previous volumes, we got little to none of this, and so more time in the office was refreshing.

While the level grind moment was quite odd, even for Riko, it did make me chuckle.

We do get to see Riko get so distracted by a new game release that she forgets something, which is quite out of character for her and shows she isn’t perfect – despite wha many of her co-workers may think.

The ending leaves me curious as to what will happen next; that hint doesn’t sound good – could a tragedy be coming for them?

Overall, I enjoyed this volume quite a bit. I look forward to continuing this series and have added the next volume to my TBR.

I hope you enjoyed my review of Cat + Gamer Vol 5. Have you read this book?
