It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #26

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!

Reviews Posted Last Week:
Farewell, Dorothy Parker by Ellen Meister
Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke

I had a bit of a light reading week last week. A large portion of my time was spent watching Friends since I have been trying to watched the series from start to finish. I made it to the eight season but ran into a snag of a missing disk so I’m waiting to hear back on whether I can get it or not before finishing off the series. I also tried to do some spring cleaning but that was put to a quick end with an end of the week ice storm. Last week I also officially signed up for Armchair BEA, I figure since I’m not attending BEA (but will one day) I might as well go with the next best thing.

What I read Last Week:

This book had been such a random find and yet I was so thrilled to buy it. I loved the King’s Quest games and having a book written in that same world was so appealing to me. I absolutely loved this book, the writing, the story, revisiting Daventry. I won’t go into too much detail, since I posted the review last week, you can click the link above to read it, but I definitely think this is a book all fantasy lovers, or any book lover for that matter, should read.

I was in the mood for a classic and after looking about my shelves I found my recently purchased copy of The Call of The Wild. I figured it is short and I have enjoyed the movie version so this would be a very good book to pick up. I haven’t read many classics but I did enjoy this one and it has made me want to delve a bit deeper into classics, which hopefully I will get to do as the year goes on. I also re-watched the movie after finishing this and found it disappointing compared to the movie

I read another Murder, She Wrote novel this week. While I can’t say that the mysteries in them are all that hard to solve they are great quick reads for when you’re looking for something else to read. I haven’t decided whether I like the books better than the television series but I will be reading more of these in the future as I find them.

What I Plan To Read This Week:

I have started a number of books recently which I haven’t finished yet so I think this week I’ll be working on finishing up as many of those as I can. My top priority of these is Scent of Magic, I received a copy of this book to review and since I managed to read the prequel to this last month I need to get to finishing this one. I haven’t gotten very far into it so I can’t quite give an opinion on it just yet, but if it’s anything like the first book I’ll enjoy it.

I had this book suggested to me at the used book store when I asked them for a book that would scare the crap out of me and I’d be too scared to finish reading it or go to sleep. I’m very close to finishing this one and can’t say that I’m scared but I am however enjoying it (and find it much better story and writing wise compared to Stephen King’s books) so I’m looking forward to finishing it.

What have you read recently? Were they as good as you had hoped or just alright? What books do you plan to read this week?
