It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #9

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It’s also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must-read” book! This week, in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #9, I’ll be going over what I recently read from my TBR and my reading plans for the week ahead.

What I read last week:

Last week was a very busy reading week for me. But let me tell you, it felt great to dive back into reading and get through so many books so quickly. While I’m still working on writing reviews for these books I’m also surging ahead ready to read even more. The books I finished last week, varied from bad, and decent to really good, and it was that that made me enjoy them even more, the variety of stories and how well I enjoyed them.

First up, was Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake. This YA horror book was surprisingly good. I don’t tend to read my YA but this book was well worth the read.

Next up was Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake. This is the sequel to Anna Dressed In Blood and I couldn’t help but dive into it immediately. While I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first, a sad fate of many sequels, I still enjoyed reading it.

Next, I read Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects by Christie Golden and it was a fairly disappointing book. It didn’t have a strong story like other World of Warcraft books and this made it hard to get through and enjoy.

Next, was Rancher’s Deadly Risk by Rachel Lee. The story itself wasn’t very good but it has an important theme throughout which made me both love and hate this book.

Lastly, I read Big Shot by Joanna Wayne, which was a good story with a hint of romance.

What I plan to read this week:

This coming week I’m hoping to keep up with my current pace of reading. I’m not sure all that I will end up reading, but the next book I plan to work on is The Defender by Lindsay McKenna. I really enjoyed the two previous books from this series, The Last Cowboy and The Wrangler, so I am hoping this one continues the trend of great western romance by this author. I’m also excited to hear that she has another book from the series coming out later this year.

Beyond this book I don’t have a plan for what will come next. I’m picking books based upon what I feel like reading so I may reach for another romance, or perhaps a fantasy or something else. Time will tell what I choose next but no matter what I look forward to what the week of reading holds for me.

That’s it for It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #9. What have you read lately?
