January 2024 TBR – books to read this month

Like most of my monthly TBRs of the past, my January 2024 TBR has more books on it than I think I will read. That way, I have plenty of options plus if I have time I will read all of them. Some of these books will help me complete my 24 books to read in 2024, but all will help to reduce my large TBR.

January 2024 TBR

Physical books

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol. 1 by Koyoharu Gotouge

Having enjoyed the first season of the anime, I decided to pick up this manga series. I cannot wait to fully absorb myself into the story and see how it continues beyond the part I know from the anime.

Spy x Family Vol. 1 by Tatsuya Endo

Another manga I picked up after watching the first season of the anime. I am really interested in seeing how this one goes because I’ve heard the anime doesn’t follow the order of the manga.

Cowboy Up! by Mike Flanagan

This one is a reread. I really enjoyed this book a couple of years ago and felt like it was time to revisit it. Cowboys and a rodeo setting have their appeal.

My Happy Marriage Vol. 3 by Akumi Agitogi

I have absolutely loved this series so far and I cannot believe I haven’t read the third volume yet. I need to know what comes next for Miyo and Kiyoka.

First Rider’s Call by Kristen Britain

Yet another reread. I’ve been wanting to catch up on this series but it’s been so long since I read the first few books, that I am working on revisiting them so the story is fresh before I continue.

Komi Can’t Communicate Vol. 27 by Tomohito Oda

The Komi series is one of my favorite manga and I’m happy I get to start the year with this volume.

Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa

After seeing this book everyone last year, I knew I had to pick it up. I love reading Japanese-translated stories and this story sounds like one I will enjoy.

War of the Scaleborn by Courtney Alameda

The latest book in the World of Warcraft series. I usually read these books the moment I get them, but I was too focused on playing the game at the time to pick this one up.

The Floating Castle by Craig Mills

Another reread. I love the King’s Quest games and the books are a fantastic addition to the story.

The Lost World by Michael Crichton

Since I finally read Jurassic Park, I figure I shouldn’t wait too long to get to the sequel. I will be interested to see how much this one differs from the movie.

Serpentus by A.J. Calvin

After reading Exile, I wanted to read more of Calvin’s works. An opportunity to get an ARC of Serpentus came up and I happily jumped on it. This book comes out in February and I cannot wait to read it this month.

Breaker: A Western Fantasy by Amy Campbell

A Western fantasy sounded like something right up my alley. This one has been on a Kindle for a while so it’s time to finally read it.

Library Books

I can’t always know which library books I will have available to me in a month. However, these are the ones I’m hoping to get to this month as long as my holds come through.

The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel

This is a book I’ve been meaning to read for ages and I should finally be getting to it this month, as I only have 2 weeks left on my hold. I cannot wait to finally read this.

Perfect World Vol. 1 by Rie Aruga

I picked this book up on a whim. I was looking for a manga series to start and this one popped up among the suggestions. It sounds interesting enough and it’s relatively short at 12 volumes long.

Natsume’s Book of Friends Vol. 1 by Yuki Midorikawa

This is a manga I have heard a lot about and so I feel like it’s time to check it out. The premise of this series sounds fantastic and I truly hope it lives up to the hype.

The Promised Neverland Vol. 1 by Kaiu Shirai

Another series I have heard a lot about. I honestly don’t know much about it, but that works out well as I’ll be able to enjoy the story.

My audiobook TBR is relatively small, however, I plan to listen to at least one audiobook a month to help whittle it down.

The False Prince: Fall of the King by James Fuller

I got a copy of this book from the author last year, but never got around to it. I look forward to finally diving into this one. It sounds like it will be a great read.

I hope you enjoyed my January 2024 TBR. What books are you planning to read this month?

  1. Lots of great recommendations, I’ll check these out. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Author

I hope you find something to enjoy from this list.

  2. Wow! Ambitious January TBR 🙂 Jurassic Park is on my TBR but I haven’t read it yet. My son loves the movies. Happiest of reading!

    1. Author

I always pick out too many books for my monthly TBR just so I have plenty to choose from depending on my mood. The book is quite a bit different from the movie but still good. Thank you.
