June 2024 TBR – books to read this month

Knowing that June is going to be hectic at best, I am making a smaller TBR for the month. Most of the books I am focusing on are continuations of series I am reading, and ironically enough there are a lot of fourth volumes this month. I also slipped in one book I started in May but didn’t get a chance to finish. While my June 2024 TBR is small, I am excited to get to these books and see what each story has in store for me. Should I find extra time to read, I will pick whatever book from my main TBR strikes my fancy.

June 2024 TBR

Urusei Yatsura Vol 1 by Rumiko Takahashi

In a high-stakes game of tag, Ataru must touch Lum’s horns in ten days—or aliens will take over the earth! The fact that Lum can fly doesn’t make Ataru’s job any easier. As it turns out, the game of tag is only the beginning of Ataru’s troubles, as he continues to attract strange encounters with otherworldly beings like beautiful snow spirit Oyuki and the sexy crow goblin Princess Kurama!

A Galaxy Next Door Vol 3 by Gido Amagakure

Meet the Parents!

On the outside, Ichiro and Shiori are the perfect couple, with a comfortable, blossoming relationship that seems to be heading towards marriage. In reality, they are hindered by a mysterious engagement pact, which has the power to inflict one-sided retribution upon Ichiro whenever Shiori feels upset! Having caught wind of the situation, Shiori’s parents show up out of the blue to confront them, determined to separate the couple and bring their daughter back to the island. Ichiro and Shiori will have to stand together to brave her parents’ disapproval… Although, could this finally mean a solution to annulling the pact?!

My Happy Marriage Vol 4 by Akumi Agitogi

Caught between friend and foe…

On their trip home from the Kudou family villa, Miyo and Kiyoka narrowly escape an ambush from the leader of the Gifted Communion, Naoshi Usui, who claims to be Miyo’s father. Fearing that Miyo will be targeted again, Kiyoka insists that she accompany him to his workplace from now on and appoints a female soldier named Kaoruko as her bodyguard. Though Miyo is unsettled by the revelation that Kaoruko was one of Kiyoka’s previous marriage candidates, the two women gradually warmup to each other and become friends. But can their bond survive the hidden threat coming for Miyo…?

Spx x Family Vol 4 by Tatsuya Endo

Master Spy Twilight is unparalleled when it comes to going undercover on dangerous missions for the betterment of the world. But when he receives the ultimate assignment—to get married and have a kid—he may finally be in over his head!

The Forgers look into adding a dog to their family, but this is no easy task—especially when Twilight has to simultaneously foil an assassination plot against a foreign minister! The perpetrators plan to use trained dogs for the attack, but Twilight gets some unexpected help to stop these terrorists.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol 4 by Koyoharu Gotouge

In Taisho-era Japan, kindhearted Tanjiro Kamado makes a living selling charcoal. But his peaceful life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family. His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon herself! Tanjiro sets out on a dangerous journey to find a way to return his sister to normal and destroy the demon who ruined his life.

After a fierce battle with a demon inside a maddening house of ever-changing rooms, Tanjiro has a chance to find out about the fighter in the boar-head mask. Who is this passionate swordsman and what does he want? Later, a new mission has Tanjiro and his compatriots heading for Mt. Natagumo and a confrontation with a mysterious and horrifying threat…

Fly Me To The Moon Vol 4 by Kenjiro Hata

Touring the beautiful Kyoto area, Nasa and Tsukasa find plenty of opportunities for romance. Selfies! Snuggling! Swordplay! They’d better enjoy every minute, because a shattering surprise awaits them at home in Tokyo. Where will the newlyweds go when their cozy (i.e., cramped) apartment is no more?

Heretical Fishing: A Cozy Guide to Annoying the Cults, Outsmarting the Fish, and Alienating Oneself by Haylock Jobson

A world abandoned by the gods, mystifying cosmic forces, unimaginable power for those willing to ascend, and a hero who would rather . . . go fishing???

When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn’tlike most MCs. In fact, he doesn’t want to be a hero at all.

Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that’s a good time.

Unfortunately for Fischer, cosmic forces rarely care for mortal feelings. He’s hounded on all sides by inept cults, conspiring nobles, and more magical misunderstandings than those of a preteen relationship. Even his dutiful pet crab is firing energy blades like an anime antagonist.

So grab your fishing rod and a good snack, and pet your dog for me. The catch of a lifetime awaits!

I hope you enjoyed my June 2024 TBR. What books do you plan to read this month?
