September 2017 Reading Wrap-Up

Now that it’s October, it’s time to look back at everything I did during the month of September. Reading wise, it was a decent enough month and when it comes to life, it was different. In total, I read six books.

So what did I read in September?

  • Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
  • The History of Bee by Maja Lunde
  • Dead Ringer by B.J. Daniels
  • A Bride’s Story, Volume 9 by Kaoru Mori
  • Ranma 1/2 Volume 1 by Rumiko Takahashi
  • Redshirts by John Scalzi

This month was crazy. The boy returned to school, which meant we had to get back into the habit of waking up early and making lunches at night. It was actually easier than previous years to get back into this routine. The weather was all over the place, with some days being cool and the nights dipping down to freezing, then it would suddenly turn warm again, practically returning to summer weather. This caused a lot of issues with the garden, since I had to start covering at night when it was cold, but then uncover it during the day so it wasn’t smothered. By the end of the month, I was pulling out most of the plants as the growing season had clearly come to an end. A few plants remain, which should be harvested soon. Other happenings of the month were that my parents came up to visit and it was….messy, yes, I think messy is the best way to describe those few days. Then to add to the overall fun of the month, the boy and I got colds, likely a combination of the wonky weather and returning to school. The fair also came to town at the beginning of the month. This is a newer thing for us, as it’s only been coming to town for a couple of months, and it isn’t a very large fair, but we are glad to have it and most importantly, the boy loves it, so we make sure to go.

I also got back into the habit of baking on the weekends so that we had healthy snacks for the week ahead. I let this slide during the summer months, but now that the boy is in school again I felt it was extra important to do it. Plus the homemade snacks taste so much better than the store bought stuff.

The movies we watched were Goosebumps, Mars Attacks, Thunderbirds, Black Beauty (1971), Miss Hokusai, The Princess of Thieves, Speed Racer and Office Space. I had a bunch of shows on the PVR that I watched as well, some had been on it for a while along with a few that were newer. These shows were Yukon Men, Deadliest Catch, River Monsters, and The Incredible Dr. Pol. I also watched InuYasha: The Final Act.
