My Review:

Peace is on the line and that means Anya must get into an elite school, but that is easier said than done as the Forger family discovers. However, luck is on their side and Anya gets accepted, and the next phase of Twilight’s mission can begin.

While I try not to compare manga and anime, I have to admit, the castle scene was hilarious when compared to the anime. It was such a simple scene in the manga yet in the anime they went over the top. I was not expecting this major difference but I think I love the simplicity of this version better.

I loved watching Yor fall more and more into her role of mother. It’s clear she has become attached to Anya, even though she knows it’s all supposed to be an act, and she will do whatever it takes to protect her. Sometimes, that means her Thorn Princess side comes out when she should be keeping it under cover, but that makes it even more entertaining.

As we watch Anya enter school, it’s clear that she is completely out of place and will have to work hard to fit in. Yet, that may be a bigger challenge than anyone anticipated. Her initial interactions with several of the students in her class show the divide between her and them but with her father’s mission on her mind, she must do good.

Of course, she doesn’t always make the best decisions and in fact, she makes a pretty big mistake on day one. However, you gotta hand it to her for how she handles the entire situation.

Perhaps having Yor teach her some moves before school started may not have been the best idea, and yet I can’t imagine the story without that scene and the ramifications from it.

We get to meet quite a few new characters in this volume, most of them are kids of elite families attending Eden along with Anya. Most of them are typical spoiled rich kids, however, there are a few who are a bit more down to earth, and one of these, Becky becomes an easy friend to Anya.

It’s nice to see Anya gaining someone to talk to and hang out with outside of her parents and we will get to see how this friendship goes as the story progresses.

While much of the story revolves around Anya starting school, we do still get tidbits of Twilight’s mission sprinkled throughout, especially at the end when Yor’s brother, Yuri, is introduced and decides to make a sudden visit to his beloved sister.

Of course, this isn’t just a friendly visit but one to scope out Yor’s husband and daughter to see if they are worthy of his sister – and he may have made his decision before even arriving. This sets up quite an ending to this volume and it’s bound to make for a very entertaining read in the next one.

Do not skip the bonus story. It is as amusing as the main story of the volume.

Overall, this was a great continuation of the story. Who knew that watching the fake daughter of a spy start going to a prestigious school would be so entertaining to read?

I cannot wait to read the rest of this series, which is on my TBR.

I hope you enjoyed my review of Spy x Family Vol 2. Have you read this book?
