TBR update: year seven – how much have I read?

Seven years have passed since I made the decision to clear out my huge TBR. Over the years, I have made a decent amount of progress, and I will continue this process until I have read all of my books. Withou further ado, let’s go over my TBR update: year seven and see how it’s looking.

TBR update: year seven

Rumiko Takahashi Shelf

Takahashi is one of my favorite mangakas, and because I have so many of her books, I have an entire shelf dedicated to her. The bottom shelf is random notebooks and other bits.

And now with the unread books removed. There isn’t much of a difference.

The unread pile on this shelf is quite small.

Shelf #1

This shelf is a mishmash of books, including my World of Warcraft books, some non-fiction, favorite novels, and a bunch of manga. Every book on this shelf has been read.

Shelf #2

This shelf is mostly manga, with a few non-fiction books on the bottom.

After removing the unread books. Only a small number of books are gone.

The pile of unread books is small and consists of my Japanese manga, which I hope to read someday when I am more proficient in reading Japanese.

Shelf #3

Another mishmash shelf. This one contains two of my favorite manga series, Yona of the Dawn and Sword Art Online. I also have a few random books thrown onto the lower shelves. Nearly all of the books on this shelf have been read.

With the unread books removed.

The unread pile isn’t too big, and much of it is recently acquired books.

Encyclopedia Shelf

This shelf contains the 2 encyclopedia sets that I own, along with my anime DVDs.

After removing the unread books. All that remains is the box set collection of older science booklets, along with my DVDs.

Unread pile #1. My set of the 1935 Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia.

Unread pile #2. My set of the 1974 Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia.

It’s no surprise that the encyclopedias are unread. However, I do plan to start reading them soon, and while it will be a long process, I look forward to it.

Main TBR Shelf

As the name suggests, this is the shelf where the vast majority of my unread books live. It is a mix that mostly contains manga, fantasy series, and non-fiction, along with a few other genres. There are a few read books on this shelf that I plan to reread before continuing on with those series.

Let’s remove all the unread books.

That’s a pretty empty shelf, but not surprising.

Unread pile #1.

Unread pile #2

I knew this one would look bad, but that’s what happens when nearly all of my unread books are placed on a single shelf. Including all of the piles of unread books, I have a total of 243 unread books. Now, this is quite a few more compared to last year; however, if we remove the encyclopedias, that brings my unread total down to 194 books.

Granted, that is still a lot, but considering that I started this process with around 800 books, I’d say I have done quite well. I also have been using my local library a ton over the last year, so that has reduced how many of my owned books I picked up.

I hope you enjoyed my TBR update: year seven. How is your TBR looking?
