Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons Why I’m Thankful for Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Arty Reader Girl. Each week, we are given a bookish topic to discuss. This week’s theme is reasons why I’m thankful for books.

Reasons Why I’m Thankful for Books

They allow me to escape. As a child, reading a book allowed me to escape from the unpleasantness of life and have some quiet solitude. The same can be said for my adult years, though I’m no longer looking to escape negatively, but merely enjoy another world for a while.

They let me learn. I have read a ton of non-fiction books over the years and I love how they allow me to learn something new or relearn something I had forgotten about. There are so many subjects I have read about and even more I still wish to get to. Luckily, I have access to those books and can continue to learn in the future.

They let me explore. Whether fiction or non-fiction, books allow me to explore the world or a different world. I love seeing areas from Earth that I have yet to visit but get to visit through books. And then of course with genres like science fiction and fantasy, I get to explore completely made-up worlds that are vibrant and full of unique life.

They allow me to connect with fellow book lovers. Between book clubs, book bloggers, and book-loving friends, there are plenty of people you can meet when you are a reader. I have connected with quite a few amazing people thanks to books and I can’t wait to see who else I will meet as I continue to enjoy books and share my love of them.

They have introduced me to amazing writers. As a writer, I love getting to see what other writers have created with their books. It keeps me motivated to continue to work on my own stories and hopefully, one day get them published. I have also connected with several authors and consider them friends who I can reach out to and that would have never happened if I didn’t love books so much.

They inspire me. Between learning something new, seeing what worlds and people have created, and all of the above reasons, books have truly inspired me in more ways than I can list.

I hope you enjoyed the reasons why I’m thankful for books. Why do you love books?
